Barcelonnette museum

The people of the Ubaye and their voyages

Housed in La Sapinière, a villa that was built in 1878 by Alexandre Reynaud after his return from Mexico, the museum boasts an eclectic mix of exhibitions combining history, archeology, local and exotic ethnography, fine art and contemporary art.

The exhibition of cultural items collected by round the-world traveller Emile Chabrand and the Orientalist paintings of artist-travellers Jean Caire and Marie Tonoir are an invitation to discover an Alpine valley with a global outlook.
